Do you have any good tips to make my trip to Japan cheaper?
Could you recommend me places to eat or sleep cheap in Japan?

Japan on the cheap can be done and is quite an experience. You can stay at capsule hotels which will cost you about USD$40-$50 a night with access to baths and sauna. Inexpensive budget hotels are also available and are usually located near stations. Try a Business Hotel for a good compromise with prices around USD$70 for a single room and USD$100 for a double. I recommend the Toyoko Inn hotel chain located all over Japan.
Prices at regular Japanese restaurants are usually USD$8-$15 a meal, but food can cost you about USD$5-8 a meal if you eat at budget Japanese restaurants like Yoshinoya, Sukiya, and CoCo Ichiban Curry House. There are numerous bakeries around the country and a small snack will cost you around USD$1-2. The convenience stores all over Japan are also a quick cheap alternative and prices are extremely low compared with places back home.
I would say about USD$70-80 a day is possible done on a budget.

how to either win a trip to japan or a cheap way to go there for 2?
admin answers:
Of course you can win a trip of a lifetime to Japan. Just make a down payment of $50 to the Leprechaun down the road who will grant your wishes. I did it and it worked:)

I stayed at a hotel with a small room but very clean with internet and flatscreen only about $35 a night but not off the main train line. It is very close to the station though. The train can cost you a lot if you do not know what you are doing. You should get a train card called suica that you can store money on cause if you lose the Magnetic tickets its a pain. Here is a video I made on how to buy one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=025fgD38elw and how to use the train system the most. The hotel is called Hotel Classico it is here http://www.hotelmaruchu.com/classico/pc-e/plan.html
If you stay there you are staying off the Joban JR line. (IMPORTANT NEVER take the Joban raipd or express it goes outside the city and you will have to come back on a local it will take forever..dont worry it will be in English) You connect to the main train line at Nippori to the yamanote line, it will take you everywhere in Tokyo. You can also take the Hibiya line subway, but if you notice by the link I provide the subway route is usually almost twice the price as JR rail http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC,+%E3%80%92110-0000+%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E9%83%BD+%E5%8F%B0%E6%9D%B1%E5%8C%BA%E6%B8%85%E5%B7%9D2-37-7+(%E3%83%9B%E3%83%86%E3%83%AB%E4%B8%B8%E5%BF%A0%E3%80%80%EF%BC%A3%EF%BC%AC%EF%BC%A1%EF%BC%B3%EF%BC%B3%EF%BC%A9%EF%BC%A3%EF%BC%AF)&daddr=Sugamo+Station,+Japan&hl=en&geocode=FUouIQId0zJVCCGsi6sE9LDsgQ%3B&mra=ls&ttype=dep&date=06%2F19%2F10&time=12:36pm&noexp=1&noal=0&sort=time&sll=35.706615,139.750775&sspn=0.115556,0.199814&ie=UTF8&z=14&start=0
You will probably need at least $1000 dollars as that is about how much I took on my first trip to Japan and I stayed at that very location and that included using the train to and from and daily and around Tokyo, food and I went out drinking twice and took one cab ride, Cab fare in Tokyo is Expensive, meter Drop is 710Yen so its like 7.50 just to get in. However that covers some distance. A cab from Shinjuku to that hotel cost me about $50 dollars.
If you eat Japanese food it can cheap or really expensive. There is foreign food but beware, its like chinese food in America, its not the same. The Tuna and Mayo Pizza is enough to make me loathe Domino’s japan forever! But you can eat for around $3-4 a meal if you look around.
The signs are mostly in English but not everyone speaks it. Bring a Dictionary, you will love yourself for doing so because really only the train signs are in English, if you need something you will probably need a pocket jisho, or Pocket Dictionary.
