Travel From Japan To Russia

Maria asks…

From Europe to Japan by Train?

Do you have enough travel experience to advice how to travel from Amsterdam to Tokyo by train (Onward via Russia and return through Asia/Middle East)? What will be the lenght of the journey?

admin answers:

You can travel from London to Tokyo via the Trans-Siberian Railway in about 14 days.

The Trans Siberian Railway goes from Moscow to Vladivostok.
You can get a connecting train from St. Petersburg to Moscow.

You can get the Ferry “Eastern Dream” Vladivostok – Donghae (South Korea) – Sakaiminato (Japan)

You can also get a ferry from Vladivostok to Toyama, Japan

For a trip planner from London to Japan on the Trans Siberian Railway see:

For an Asian Passenger Train Travel Guide, see:

For your return trip, I believe that you can get a train through China and Mongolia to Turkey. A trip through India would involve crossing the Himalayas by train.

Mark asks…

What’s the best company to travel abroad with as a high school foreign exchange student?

I wish to go to Germany, Russia, Japan, or some other highly-industrialized country for the first semester of my senior year in high school starting in the fall of 2006. Please consider costs, perhaps from personal experience. Also consider personal options with those services and companies that allow you to select where in that country you’d like to be placed. Thank you!

admin answers:

Though not an industrialized country as you would want it, Ghana [in West Africa] is a good option to consider. Can provide you with some excellent companies that you would travel with.

Richard asks…

I have NO MONEY and I want to travel the world. Suggestions?

I’m only 14, but I have already started looking into studying overseas. My dad doesn’t want me to go at all and my mom just want me to finish high school in America (ugh!). I want to travel to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerlandd, Russia, and Japan. Everywhere else too, but I really want to go to those countries first. I have absolutely no money whatsoever and most likely will not count on support from my family when it comes to money. I’m estimating to travel once I’m 18 if all goes well. I will take any SERIOUS suggestions you may give (e.g.; links, books, jobs, etc.). Please help??? Thank you~!

admin answers:

So you have 4 years to get together enough money knowledge to properly travel then! Its great that you want to travel. Start working part time now, and begin to save. Your lucky that all the money you make will be yours to keep!
To get into germany, austria etc.. Think about working the ski seasons there. It will allow you to get experience and money so you can travel other places.
I went traveling with just three hundred pounds, and worked for a year and a half abroad in New Zealand and Australia. If you want to do something badly enough you will make it happen some way or another!
Good luck!
