what to do during a 5 hour layover in narita airport (japan)?
i am only 15/16 and this would be my second flight in my lifetime and my first flight alone. i am headed to korea but i have a 5/6 hour layover in narita airport. do you think it is a better idea for me to stay in the airport rather than walk around in narita? i don’t know japanese and i really afraid of missing the flight to korea, but i’m not sure what i would do during the layover.
thanks

I am not sure if they allow you out of the terminal during a 5 hour layover. In order to even get out, you would have to go through customs and immigration which could take a hour within itself.. In the airport there are duty free shops, internet cafes, restaurants, etc. Around. Getting around Narita would be tricky to figure out and as someone mentioned, Tokyo is too far away. Your best bet is to stay inside the terminal and hang out. Boring I know.

It’s not free but it is cheaper than most airports. It’s only 500 yen. Http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/guide/service/list/svc_33_wire.html

Chris asks…
Did the Kansai airport in Japan have much damage from the tsunamis?
I believe the Kansai airport is the man-made island that serves as a major airport for Japan. I’ve searched on the internet and can’t find any news stories about damage to this “floating island”. I did read that air traffic is starting to flow again already for the major airports in Japan. Any news as to how this airport handled the tsunami waves?
Thanks so much Maiko! It’s amazing and interesting to hear from someone who is at Kansai airport.
admin answers:
Hello, I’m a Japanese women who works at Kansai International Airport.
Answer to your question, Kansai airport is totally safe now, working as usual. When earthquakes hit airport on last Friday, I felt circular movements several times, and it made me dizzy for a while. Security department staffs of our company did research on entire floating island after earthquakes hit. I haven’t received any information about damages caused by Tsunami yet.
As you read on some articles, it is a little bit more crowded than usual today, it seems like because foreigners who lives/ visiting Japan are attempting to leave. So delays or flight cancels can be happen sometimes.

admin answers:
It is illegal to POSESS a taser let alone to take one to an airport. The security services do trawl the internet to pick up clues that you leave on sites like this.
