Tour In Japan Garden

Helen asks…

Anybody in or been to Japan. How beautiful are the Bonsai and gardens?

I am into Bonsai and would like to go to Japan some tine.
Our bonsai club has a visiting Sensei (teacher) Johnny Ushida. Johnny used to ddddo a once a year tour to a big show in tokeo. Sorry I missed out on that!

admin answers:

The most beautiful bonsai and gardens are in Kyoto and Nara at temples. Most temples have an admission fee. Take a camera! If you come to Tokyo stop and see the Palace compound or if in Osaka stop and see the Castle. Have a safe trip. Welcome to Japan!

Sharon asks…

I’ll be seeing Meiji Shrine, Azakusa, Imperial Garden, Odaiba…?

…on a guided tour. I have one free day, any suggestions on what else I should visit in Tokyo, Japan?

admin answers:

With the one day and your tour in mind, I’d suggest:

Tsukiji Market in the early morning

Ueno Park in the daytime

Tokyo Tower from afternoon to evening

If your free day is a Sunday or Saturday, I’d recommend going to Harajuku in place of Ueno Park.

Good luck and happy travels!

Airlines To Japan From America

Sandy asks…

Which airline(s) from America flies to Japan?

Thinking about taking a trip over to Tokyo, but I have no idea. Please help. Thanks.

admin answers:

United Flies from non stop from Chicago, Hawaii, and San Fran, LA, and Washington, DC to Tokyo.

Northwest files from Detriot, Houston and Minnesota to Tokyo

American files from Dallas, Chicago, and LA to Tokyo

Also check Japanese airlines … ANA and JAL

Carol asks…

Can you become a JAL flight attendant from america or do you have to go to japan to become one there?

well flight attendants inspired me since i was little i’ve moved alot and rode planes alot and it was so cool to watch flight attendants all walking together their all so pretty and cool

SO ANYWAY getting to my point

im a high school sophomore and im thinking of wanting to become a flight attendant what are some requirements?
i want to work for JAL or Delta mostly JAL
i live in US and JAL is a japanese airline so can you still apply from here and get in???
i speak fluent japanese because i lived there for 6yrs but im indian
and also what are the schedule for flight attendants do they go to the same places everytime?
i know i should be concentrating on my studies but im curious =]

admin answers:

Not really answering your question, but JAL is about to dump 1/3 of its employees, as it shrinks in bankruptcy. The airline industry is–as always–very unstable. If I was you, I’d look at ANA–they’re not doing so hot either, though.

Get done with school and see how the landscape looks then. Good luck!

Laura asks…

Which airline seats are more comfortable – United Airline – America Airline – Northwest?

I may travel from LAX to Japan. It will be a long flight I believe. I have long legs too. I want more space in front of my seat. Can you give me suggestion?

admin answers:

I flew from JFK to Rome on American Airlines and it was soooo uncomfortable!! I’m only 5’1″ and I felt cramped in their little aisles. That was about 3 years ago, so maybe they’ve upgraded or something? I haven’t flown them since. I remember the seats being pretty uncomfortable.

I have a friend who flew from LAX to Japan and she opted to just suck it up and spend the extra money to fly Business class and she said she was way more comfortable. She flies there like once a year. It’s more expensive, but she said it was well worth it.

Anyways, Good luck and have FUN!! Japan is suppose to be amazing.

Mark asks…

American Airlines International Upgrade Miles?

In terms of miles, The 4 longest routes American Airlines fly is (1. Chicago-Delhi 7477 mi) (2. Chicago-Shanghai 7050 mi) (3. New York-Tokyo 6737 mi) (4. Chicago-Beijing 6571 mi)

These 4 routes are operated by AA. There are other routes that are just as long such as Chicago-Hong Kong or New York-Abu Dhabi by AA but is operated by other airlines such as Cathay Pacific and Etihad so I am not counting them.

So now to get to my question..if you look at the upgrade chart for American Airlines,

http://www.aa.com/i18n/disclaimers/one-way-upgrade-chart.jsp

It shows that from North America to China or Japan, It takes 25,000 miles to upgrade. North America to India is 40,000 miles to upgrade which is the highest they have. Does this make any sense at all considering the mile difference between the Chicago-Delhi and Chicago-Shanghai on flight is only 427 miles, yet they charge an extra 15,000 miles for this 427 miles? If it was 30,000 miles, then ok, its understandable. but 40,000?

admin answers:

AA and other airlines divide the world into regions and zones for award travel and upgrade purposes. Delhi is about half-way around the world from many US cites, so it should be in the zone or region that requires the most frequent flyer miles to ugrade. You’re also not taking into consideration the routes airlines fly, although an airline route to Delhi from Chicago may only be 427 longer than to Shanghai, Delhi is much further from Shanghai than 427 miles.

The airlines divide the world into zones for their benefit, not the passengers to maximize profits or minimize losses.

Travel To Japan Safe

Michael asks…

Do you think its safe to travel to Asia?

i know with the “war” and terrorissm, but would it be safe to travel to Asia. Like Nepal, India, or Japan?

admin answers:

Absolutely. Welcome. Terrorism is every where in the world, and war is not in this part of Asia, you are safe to travel here.

Laura asks…

can u please tell me how safe it is to travel in these 4 countries, and also what it’s like?

1. Mexico – near the U.S. Border
2. South Korea
3. China, especially the east coast –
4. Japan

I am being forced to travel to these 4 places within the next year, and i am scared :(

admin answers:

Right now, Mexico is not safe because all of the drugs, and rapes going on around the U.S. Border.
South Korea, I would recommend not to go, I would not risk it, and also that country is not a very safe country either.
China is safe I guess, as long as you try to stay away from anything that looks suspicious
Japan is a safe country. Other than like the earthquakes and some other natural disasters that usually happen there, it is a safe country. You don’t really need to worry about that.

I was going to drive to Mexico this past summer until I heard about all the bad things happening by the border. I would highly recommend not to go to Mexico right now. Maybe when things get better, then you could go, but not right now.

Anyway, I hope I helped!
And i hope you get this sorted out with! :)

Donna asks…

iam traveling to heroshima japan april 2011 is it safe?

admin answers:

Hiroshima is so far away from the epicenter of quake or Fukushima nuke. So it’s safe, yes.

Sharon asks…

What countries would you feel safe traveling to (Canada doesn’t count because its almost identical to the US)

I’d probably only feel comfortable going to Western Europe, British Isles, Scandanavia, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

Everywhere else in the world would scare me. I’d be afraid of being kidnapped or something. I’d especially be afraid to go to an Islamic country because I’d probably get killed for being an American.
The only thing that my being an American would be a problem would be a visit to an Islamic country.

Other than that my concern would be crime, corruption, and the lack of safety. I would be terrified to visit South America or Africa and many parts of Asia.

admin answers:

No country is safe!!..
But i would say New Zealand ..

Charles asks…

Would a Chinese-Australian face any racism in Japan?

I’m Chinese, born and raised in Australia.

My school is arranging a study tour in Japan around about September next year, and I was wondering if people will notice us (in a bad way)…

Most of my school is Chinese, and everyone who is going on the tour is Chinese.

I know this question’s probably been asked many times before, but most of them only apply to obvious foreigners, people who actually LOOK caucasian/black, but since we look asian, are locals going to look down on us once they find out we’re Chinese? We speak Japanese, yes, but is there still racism? I’ve heard different accounts from different (Chinese) people D:

admin answers:

Born an raised in Australia, so technically speaking you’re more Australian then you are Chinese.

I am an American of Asian decent who lives in Japan. My experiences maybe a little different from those of my friends and colleagues who are white, in that I “look” the part, I don’t stand out. But I never had any problems in racism, nor have my white/black counterparts either.

Japanese have problems with the (country) China, to be exact The People’s Republic of China (communist china) , though generally there isn’t much problems with people of Chinese decent who happen to be Canadian, Australian, American etc. Nor is there any major problems with Taiwan or Taiwanese (who some might say are “Chinese” too, but that is neither here or there).

It’s not to say there is no racism, but there is no country on earth where there is no racism. There’s racism in Japan, there’s racism in China, there’s racism in America, Australia, New Zealand, you name it.

For the most part, I think going on a study abroad your experiences will for the vast part be a positive experience, and people will not view you as “Chinese” (eg you are FROM Communist China) but as Australian. Not saying if people view you as Chinese as bad, because I know a few Chinese (real Chinese FROM China) who live in Japan without much issues either.

Protests are more in line against the Government of China (People’s Republic of China) then it is against persons from there. But you’re from Australia anyway, so it doesn’t concern you much.

Again I think as a student your experiences will be for the vast majority a positive experience.

Ken asks…

(Mostly for Green Day fans), where can i find this stuff!?

In some countries, bonus versions of the album were released.

The most common version[citation needed] can be found in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It features “Too Much Too Soon”, one of the album’s B-sides, at the end of the album.
In the Japanese version,[3] there are 14 tracks, the last track is “Favorite Son”, another B-side to the album. Another Japanese version includes a bonus CD, recorded live in Makuhari Messe on March 19, 2005. The Enhanced CD contains live footage and behind-the-scenes featurette from the Japan tour.
In the French version, [4] there are 16 tracks, featuring three of the album’s B-sides: “Too Much Too Soon”, “Governator” and “Shoplifter”. The French version combines “Holiday” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” into one track and does the same with “Are We the Waiting” and “St. Jimmy”, “Give Me Novacaine” and “She’s a Rebel”, and “Extraordinary Girl” and “Letterbomb”.
A limited edition version of the album was released, which was packaged to look like a book. While this version contains no extra tracks, The booklet is extended to contain artwork and journal entries made by “Saint Jimmy,” which further outline the story.
okay so i really want to find at least one of these, preferably the Saint Jimmy journal and the French Version.

i’ve tried ebay…no luck.

are there any “underground” places i can try to find it? *ugh* im gonna kill somebody if i dont find it at some point…!

admin answers:

I actually don’t have the American Idiot album (a friend lended it to me), so I don’t know the difference. I don’t know how the booklet looks like, but when I looked on amazon.com’s pictures for the AI booklet, I think I saw the St. Jimmy entries you were talking about. I’m not sure if that’s from the orginal booklet or the special edition one though :( .

“Too Much Too Soon” is on the “American Idiot” single. “Favorite Son is on “Rock Against Bush v.2″, and I think Governator and Shoplifter are (seperately) on the singles for “WMUWSE” and “BOBD”. I think Limewire also has them. And as for the combined versions of Holiday/BOBD and etc… There isn’t much of a difference, the seperate versions are better.

Travel To Japan Visa

Chris asks…

what type of work/travel visas to Japan are available to those without a college degree?

admin answers:

If you’re an American, you can visit Japan for up to 90 days in one visit. You can return for a second visit for another 90 days for a total period of 180 days within a 12 month period.( no visa needed )
To qualify for a work visa you need to have a four year degree or ten years job experience in a needed job field. There are few exceptions like entertainers / dancers in a night club.
Japan is still in one of the worse recessions they’ve ever had. Most of your regular jobs require native level Japanese. And there’s no shortage of people to fill those job openings.
If you wanted to work on an organic farm you could join their wwoof program. This is where people work on a farm for room & board.

Michael asks…

I am in France illegally i want to go to japan for a trip how do i get a Visa to travel to japan? Ans how much?

admin answers:

You would need to be legally residing in France in order to be able to apply for a visa at the Japanese Embassy in Paris or the Consulates General in Marseille or Strasbourg [fee: €25 (single entry), €50 (multiple entry)]..

If you want to go to JApan you will first need to travel home and apply for a Japanese visa from there.
Bon voyage!

Sandy asks…

I am a green card holder. Do I need a visa to travel in Japan for 2 weeks?

admin answers:

Well yes Japan is another country and all.

George asks…

i am from Peru, American Resident, do I need a visa to travel to Japan for two weeks?”?

admin answers:

ALL foreigners require a visa to enter Japan.
However, for foreigners from a country that Japan has a reciprocating agreement with, the ‘Temporary visitor’ status visa will be issued at the Customs and Immigration counter free of charge, and consists of a stamp that will be glued into your passport.
In principle, visa applications should be made at the Japanese embassy or consulate with jurisdiction over applicant’s place of residence.
In the case of Malaysia, Peru and Colombia, it is recommended to obtain visa.
