I stayed i Manila for 6 months and Im only suppose to be there for 2 weeks. This is a year ago. The immigration in the Manila is not that strict pal. Just have fun there and dont panic… They want you to over stay in Manila believe me. Plus even if you overstay… They will ask you why>? I just told them coz I like it so much and I want to comeback also… Thats it..

Money works in Manila always.

Or if you want to be Nerdy or by the book. Once u land in Manila by the immigration officer. Let them know wanna stay more than 21 days and they will grant it. Easy.

Laura asks…

How much does it cost to go to Japan?

My sister and I have just started a small comic book business- it’s rough but things are going. To reward ourselves further down the line we’ve decided, as a goal, that we’d like to save up for a trip to Japan. We know it’s going to take awhile- quite awhile, but still it’s something to aim for.

In short: How much does a flight from Michigan USA to anywhere in Japan cost? I’m looking for rough estimates. We know we’ll have to save up a little extra for while we’re there. I’m thinking of a round trip ticket, staying for a week or two.

admin answers:

Air fare: You need $1000-1500 if you are departing from US

Hotel: Usually, you need $100 per night if you want to stay at a hotel.
If you want to save money, you need to stay at a hostel which will cost $30-50 per night.
If you want to stay at a luxury hotel, you need $200-300 or more.

Food, transportation and others: You need $50-100 or so per day. If you want to enjoy shopping, you need more.

So you need $100 for hotel and $75 for others per day. If you want to stay in Japan for 2 weeks, the total cost will be $2450.

question about costs to fly to japan?

im trying to save up for money to fly to japan to see family i havent seen in over 10 years. im flying from MA, usa and the cost per person is about 1,500 for just the plane tickets (round trip) so i need to save like 5 to 6 thousand just for the plane tickets bc its going to be me and my 2 young children. i dont need money for hotels etc bc my mom has 5 sister and a lot of family out there but how much should i save for spending money? i want to stay there at least 2 or 3 months. thanks.

admin answers:

Just in average, you may try to consider US$40/person/day for meal. Add US$60/person/time to go anywhere far from your own depot(traffic and fares) and US$100/person/time to stay outside of house, too.
Souvenirs and luxurious extra parts may vary by your own decision.

I want to go to japan, can someone help?

Okay in my last question, http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101115032458AAfpc10&r=w I asked if i when i did go to japan what would i need before i get there…appearently i left out some important details…When i go to japan i was planning on staying there…not round trip one way and i want to know what i would have to do since i want to stay there…and plus, I’m from arkansas usa if you all wanted to know….so i realize I need a passport and a plane ticket but I REALLY need to know about the shots….and where would i go to get the passport??? thanks in advanced.
I want to go to japan NOT because i’m a fucking wanna be emo. I DON’T BELIVE IN STEREOTYPES! I want to go there cause my friend/brother (not my blood brother) moved there with his parents a little while ago and when i go over there i want to stay cause i’m happier with him than i am even i am home. So you know what davy or what ever the hell your name is FUCK YOU. you don’t know why i want to go over and NEVER call me emo again… I’M NOT EMO DAMMIT. I don’t know why it says philippines but i’m from ARKANSAS i don’t know how to change it…

admin answers:

Are you sure you are from Arkansas because the site said you are asking this from “yahoo philippines”?? You can’t get help if you won’t be honest.
And it seems you really have no idea, zero knowledge, about travelling because you don’t even know what passport is.
My suggestion, coordinate with your family or friends about this. Because going to Japan is not just like going to California. And you’ll also need thousands of dollars for your plane tickets and to support your stay here in Japan.

Japan Airlines Cargo

Sharon asks…

International Air Cargo ?

Air Cargo has become a huge global industry with airlines like Japan Air Lines and Northwest along with the air freight companies operating regular service around the world.

What large jet freighter is used most?

Other than parcel delivery, what cargo is the most commonly carried and why? I’m thinking cut flowers and food but I’m drawing a blank as to what else.

admin answers:

The 747 cargo airplanes see TONS of action in the air freight business… Every airline with a cargo department seems to fly the 747… And one of the largest air cargo compaines in the world, UPS, flies the 747…

The Cargo carried can be anything from mail, to flowers, to toys… The list goes on and on… If the reciever needs it quick, it can be shipped via an airplane…

Jenny asks…

What is the easiest way to send 2 dogs to Okinawa, Japan?

My husband is in the military, and we are moving to Okinawa, Japan in early September. The military plane we’re flying on only has room for 1 animal…and of course, we just happen to have 2. So I’m desperately trying to find a reasonably-priced way to ship either both dogs together, or 1 separately. I’ve tried almost all the US airlines, and most of them don’t even fly to Okinawa. I’ve tried China Air, and they’re not sure. I’ve looked into special pet cargo services, and they want to charge us $2300 for the trip. I’m freaking out! I only have a couple of months to get this done, and that is NO time at all if you’re a military family. If anyone has any sort of practical solution, please let me know. Thank you!

admin answers:

I haven’t traveled with a pet to Okinawa myself, but will be bringing one back to the states once we leave here. I know of people that because of the no-travel block for pets (generally may-august due to extensive heat/humidity conditions here and pets not acclimated) people are forced to leave their pets in the states, and then they travel back after the block to bring their pets.
Have you tried asking at the base terminal that you’re flying out of to see if your pet can travel alone? I know it’s scary for certain people to fly alone, let alone a pet by himself. What I mean to say is, can someone stay with the pet and then take him to the terminal once you can find a slot for him, of course that being after you and your family get here.
If it helps any, we flew here commercial, and our airlines were United (from Hawaii to Osaka) and All Nippon Airways (Osaka to Okinawa). I know that Northwest airlines also flies to Osaka, but I think All Nippon is the only one that flies from Osaka/Tokyo to Okinawa.

Mary asks…

What are the best airlines for pets from the US to Asia?

I am moving from Chicago to Manila for 2 years and my 2 cats are going with me. They travel well and have flown with Lufthansa for European trips and have been fine.

I am flying out of Chicago in July and need to know the best airlines for them to fly as excess baggage. They are too large to come with me (plus, airlines only allow 1 carry-on pet per person/flight). Also, Delta and a few other US carriers won’t even carry them as excess baggage/cargo during summer months (understandably so).

Airlines I am looking at now include: Asiana, Air China, Cathaty, Continental, Delta, Etihad, EVA, Japan Airlines, and Korean. I am still researching, but I thought I would ask here for some guidance as well–as I have my work cut out for me :0)

If you have any experience with traveling with pets to Manila or other asian countries nearby, please advise.

admin answers:

Any airlines will do. All airlines are ensure your (every) animal travels safely and comfortably. There are several different options available to get your pet to its final destination, including being brought into the cabin with you (contact airline option), checked as baggage, or being shipped as a cargo. You can rest assured that your pet will be treated with the same comfort and care you have come to expect. Again, all that you have listed (airlines) above will do.

I did on Cathay Airline when I brought home my german shepperd puppy 5 yrs ago.

Japan Radiation a global issue?

It says it might spread, is it a global issue?

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-03-17/business/ct-biz-0318-airport-radiation–20110317_1_radiation-detectors-american-airlines-cargo

admin answers:

Yes, it’s a global issue.
There is radioactive dust which is going around the planet by air and water, even without airplanes.
I think it’s wise to try to minimize exposure or eating of radioactive particles.
I am avoiding drinking milk and eating meat because we know that radiatiation bioconcentrates in animal tissue.
That means that it stays longer in animal tissues and that vegetables might be safer.
Also, stay out of the rain because that is when the nuclear dust particles (fallout) comes down.
Still, it’s worse to ingest radiation, this is called “internal radiation”.
If it is just on you, “external radiation”, the exposure is not as long and you can wash it off, which is easier.

Japan Flights

William asks…

please help me i want to know how many kilos allowed for the flights for japan?

please help me i want to know how many kilos allowed for flights to japan? and please help me i want to know how much the charges in peso if ever my baggage is exceeded.

admin answers:

I notice that you are travelling with Philippine Airlines (PAL) although you don’t say from where.

If your flight starts from the USA you are allowed 2 pieces of hold luggage in Fiesta Economy. Their total dimensions must not exceed 107 inches (273cms) and neither piece should exceed 62 inches (158cms). Each piece must not exceed 23kgs.

If flying between the Philippines and Asia/Australia, however, you will only be allowed 23kgs.

The fee for excess baggage on flights between Manila and Tokyo is USD15.00 per kilo.

Full details of allowances and excess charges can be seen in the attached link.

Mandy asks…

When a young lady marries an Air Force mechanic stationed in Japan, do they provide flights for her to Japan?

My daughter recently married a young man who is stationed with the Air Force on the mainland in Japan. I forget the name of the base. Does the Air Force provide a flight for her to join him or is she responsible for paying for a commercial flight? What about moving her possessions? Who pays for that?

admin answers:

No. Since she got married AFTER he was assigned there all expenses will be out of pocket to get there. Plus she needs to get command sponsorship first before she can move there.. And that may not necessarily happen.

Laura asks…

How many flights to Japan are there each day?

Anywhere in the US. I just need to know the total departures to Japan.

admin answers:

100 Sex-Tillion

Sharon asks…

do you need a passport for domestic flights in japan?

My Japanese 1 year working visa is due to expire any day now but I want to fly to sapporo in a months time to go snowboarding and then I am going to fly back to the UK. Would my lack of valid visa hamper me in my attempts to get around and eventually leave japan? Any info would be gratefully received.

admin answers:

You need your passport for ID purposes. I’m not sure if you can stay as a visitor after having had been there for a work visa. Yes, it may cause problems. Japanese police have no sense of humor. If they think you’re there illegally, they can hold you for two weeks without even charging you. I’d check into this first just to be safe. They’d check your passport when you arrived in Hokkaido.
