Daniel asks…

I’m flying form Japan to East Coast USA, where can i get cheap airline tickets?

some site can’t sell to me because my origin is outside the US….

A travel agent is your best bet.

If you are a Japanese or living in Japan, go to the HIS travel agency. They’re the best.

William asks…

Why doesn’t USA have a flag carrier airline?

For example:

Germany;
Air Berlin
Germanwings
Lufthansa…(flag carrier)

United Kingdom;
Virgin Atlantic Airways
British Midland Airways
British Airways…(flag carrier)

Japan;
All Nippon Airways
Japan Airlines…(flag carrier)

admin answers:

The US government is prohibited by the Constitution, from competing with private companies, with a few exceptions.

A national, flag-carrying airline would be a violation of the US Constitution.

Most other countries do not have the same restrictions.

Sandy asks…

do you know of how to get any cheap airline tickets out of japan?

i am looking for a one-way ticket out of japan on early january, to either bankok or the usa, which ever is cheaper. i am not a student. OR do you know of ANY cheap way to get out of japan? even by boat? thanks for any help!

admin answers:

The cheapest way out of Japan is the boat to the ROK. Flights to Seoul are cheap as well. Manila may be a cheaper option than BK. Guam is not expensive and it’s sort of the US.

John asks…

If a child is born on a international flight – what citizenship does he get?

Thats the question…

Lets say parents belong to USA.
And they are flying between UK and France (using Japan Airlines). And the child is born midway in the flight.

Does the child get US, UK,French or Japanese citizenship?

admin answers:

It depends on the country, the USA for example will allow someone born in US airspace whose parents are not US citizens to apply for citizenship, just because they’re born in US airspace does not automatically make them a citizen without applying for citizenship if their parents are not citizens. Most countries don’t grant citizenship or allow someone to apply just because they were born there or in their airspace or their airplanes. In most cases they will be citizens of the country of their parents and will not be entitled to apply only because of where they were born. In the case you used for an example, the child will be a US citizen and have no rights of citizenship in the UK, France and especially Japan which has some of the most homogenous citizenship regulations in the world.
