I am planning a holiday to Tokyo, Japan in November and I was just wondering how much would it cost for a iphone 3Gs or a 3G on pre-pay? Obviously I wouldn’t want it on a contract but just the phone and I would use my O2 sim card instead.

Would it be cheaper in Japan then in the UK because it was released in Japan before anywhere else and that the japanese market being perhaps cheaper that of the UK. Cheers!!

I am planning a holiday to Japan, Tokyo this November. Any interesting place or food to explore?

What kind of weather n proper clothes should I wear?

It is pretty chilly in November, so better to bring sweater and jacket. The high will be 55-65, and low will be 42-50.

The places I recommend you to visit around Tokyo are Tokyo Disneyland or Disney sea, Tokyo Tower, and Meiji Jingu Shrine.

And attractive districts are Shibuya or Roppongi or Shinjuku area for young generation. If you are interested in IT relationship, Akihabara is pretty good.

If you like traditional Japan, Asakusa is one of my favorite places to visit.

Regarding food, you should experience IZAKAYA. I would like you to go there at least once during your stay because you can see a kind of real Japanese society there… It is a kind of Pub, but they serve a lot of dishes with reasonable prices (approx. 300yen-800yen).

Even though you dont drink, you can enjoy almost every cuisine in Japan at IZAKAYA.

Why Do Japanese People Celebrate Christmas in Japan?

I was just in Tokyo, Japan a few weeks ago in November.
I noticed that they’re setting up for Christmas everywhere I go.
But I do have something that constantly on my mind.
A large percentage of Japan‘s religion is Shinto and Buddhist.
And Christmas is a Christian holiday.
I do know that there are Christians (as well as Catholics) living in Japan as well.
What is the reason why Japan‘s Shinto and Buddhist community celebrate Christmas if most of them they believe in Christianity?

It’s just a holiday for them to exchange gifts.
Most countries in Asia that I know celebrates it, it’s not a cultural thing, just a “foreign” holiday that’s adapted. They decorate trees, exchange presents, eat(chicken), but they do not pray or anything on Christmas Eve.

I am going with a tour group to Tokyo, Japan in a week and a half. What would be some great night clubs to visit in Tokyo? If you can list the district, the name of the club, and a homepage or a webpage which reviews the club, that would be really helpful.

Velfarre is the best club in Roppongi! It has a big dance floor and lots of awesome lighting, they have a yucky website http://velfarre.avex.co.jp but wikipedia hasn “ok” description. Another club is Club 99 (Gaspanic) which is also in Roppongi http://www.gaspanic.co.jp/. Ugh! I’m so jealous, I miss Japanese clubs! Definitely check out Velfarre though…

OK, for me, Apple HIME (Ringo Shiina) is a goddess…and Tokyo Jihen is one of the best bands in the world. I have heard that they have all gone back to solo performing…but are there any plans for them to tour Japan again?

I can honestly say that I would gladly pay $500 to see them.

How and where to buy and reserve Nozomi Shinkansen seats from Osaka to Tokyo?

We will be joining a tour group in Japan in October. The tour starts in Tokyo and ends in Osaka on October 11, of which we have to go back to Narita to catch an 1800 flight. How can I buy the Nozomi Shinkansen tickets? Can I reserve them here while I am in the U.S.? Or, can I buy and reserve the ticket as soon as we arrive in Tokyo? Help….

Check out your local Japan Rail Travel in your country for the Japan Rail Pass tourists can buy. You can get them for a week or more, and cannot buy them in Japan but they give you unlimited travel from when you start using them.They are much cheaper than Japanese people can buy in their country.You will need your passport, and do need to verify them at Shinjuku station ( probably other stations too – Japan Rail should be able to tell you that), when you are in Tokyo.You can reserve seats on the shinkansen at the station , to ensure you have a seat.

Hi, I know, I’m being paranoic, but I just ordered a violin trial from Shar music, and I’m concerned because the cases the violins will come in are called Toshira so, I guess they are japanese and I don’t know if they were already in the store or came from Japan… Is there a chance they are contaminated if they came to the store one of these days? Are flights from Japan and sales overseas open or are they not happening because of what has happened? Please tell me, I’m confused. Should I contact the store?

However, look at your timeline, there is not a lot of business gong on in Japan except survival and rescuing and stopping the nuclear problems. Anything ordered and sent would be awhile ago.

Should I wait for the fuel surcharge decline to buy my airplane ticket?

I have heard that the fuel surcharge is going down in a week or so for airlines. Should I wait a week or so to buy my tickets to and from Japan in early December? I was going to buy the tickets tomorrow, otherwise. Or should I wait until Tuesday afternoon to see if there are any good sale flights? If I wait, will the price go up by the day?

I don’t think the fuel surcharge will change that much if any between now and Tuesday. However the ticket prices can fluctuate so I would probably buy your tickets now before the ticket price itself goes up.
